Background:
At a time when the sustainability of the supply of power and water in Zanzibar in the future must be of concern, along comes Zamani Zanzibar Kempinski. There is no denying that this is an excellent, modern, Dubai-style resort with great facilities and is unlike anything else available on the island. If you are looking for a holiday that combines the splendour of Zanzibar with luxury, relaxation, good food and spa treatments, then you will probably love this place. You should be aware that its beach and lagoon are by no means the best on the east coast but if you are happy with its fantastic infinity swimming pool then this neednt be an issue. You will either adore this resort or hate as it has little in its design that has a Zanzibar look and feel. We just have some concerns regarding tourism in the longer term with this type of property.

Accommodation:
All rooms at Zamani Kempinski feature international satellite TV with movie channels, tea & coffee making facilities, in-room safe, minibar, 24 hour room service. Be aware that a beer out of the minibar fridge will cost you three times what you would pay at the Pool Bar or with food in the restaurants.

Entertainment:
THE BEACH
With the exception of a small stretch of beach below the Spa, which can only be accessed via a very steep incline, the beach is rather disappointing and very narrow. Like wise the lagoon is nothing special and only adequate for kayaking. During construction the resort did try to construct a man-made rock-pool but this was abandoned and removed. To compensate for the poor beach the resort do offer a complimentary minibus transfer (every 30 mins) to a much better beach closeby.

BARS
Zanzibar Lounge
The resort has the Zanzibar Lounge which is located above Cloves Restaurant and one can enjoy cocktails, drinks and afternoon tea but all with waiter service. For watever reason the resort was built without a bar as a focal point for relaxing and making friends. Apparently moves are under way to change this and a bar will be included soon.

Pool Bar
The Pool Bar, located between the pool and Red Snapper Restaurant offers refreshing drinks and light snacks throughout the day.

Zamani Kempinksi has a broadband connection with the best Internet connectivity I have experienced in Zanzibar on a decent specification PC. If keeping in touch is important then connection here is as good as at home.

TELEVISION/MOVIES
All rooms in the resort have satellite TVs but there is an additional TV in the lower lounge area of the main building next to the Games Area with pool table.

GIFT SHOP
An excellent gift shop with an excellent selection of souvenirs and African arts and crafts, as well as many other amenities.
